  • Tiger Oak Media hires veteran business journalist as magazine ramps up digital presence

Tiger Oak Media has named experienced business journalist Bill Conroy as managing editor for Seattle Business magazine. Conroy brings some 35 years of business journalism experience to the team at Seattle Business.

Conroy served as editor in chief of the San Antonio Business Journal for 20 years. He most recently served as editor-in-chief of B2B magazine publisher Scotsman Guide Media. Conroy succeeds John Levesque, who held the post for eight years before retiring in January.

Conroy’s career has taken him across the country, from Minnesota and Wisconsin to Arizona and Texas before landing in Seattle. “I’ve covered every major business beat, including real estate, energy, aerospace, finance, manufacturing, health care, technology, and more,” Conroy says. “Business and the economy touch everything in our world. As a journalist, you couldn’t ask for a better palette from which to work.”

At Seattle Business, Conroy is responsible for managing the execution of the monthly magazine, including writing and editing, pumping up the digital edition and executing social media strategy.

Conroy joins recently appointed editor-in-chief, Rob Smith, at the helm of Seattle Business. “Bill’s experience as a leader and journalist make him the perfect fit to help achieve the magazine’s mission to inspire, inform and educate,” Smith says. “He brings fresh ideas and a unique perspective as we sharpen our focus on the business leaders and companies leading the region during a time of unprecedented growth.”

Seattle Business magazine covers and supports the business community in the Pacific Northwest, producing multiple awards series each year as well as the popular Daring Women conference, which takes place May 21 (tickets here). In 2018, Seattle Business won the coveted General Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Northwest Excellence in Journalism contest.

Founded in 1992, Tiger Oak Media publishes regional and national magazines and books and web sites, including Seattle magazine, Seattle Business, Seattle Bride and five other wedding titles, Community Lifestyle magazines in Minnesota, Meetings + Events titles and numerous other custom publications. Tiger Oak also produces several tradeshows and events throughout the U.S. More information on Tiger Oak Media can be found online at tigeroak.com.
