As the new VPMA of Swedish First Hill, Dr. Wako will partner with fellow campus executives on both strategy and operations and will focus on providing leadership and management support for all aspects of physician and provider practice. She will be responsible for further developing the quality, safety and patient experience programs with the medical staff and serve as a key communication link with both independent and employed physicians that are associated with the campus.

Dr. Wako transitions to VPMA from her dual role as a staff anesthesiologist and as Medical Director for Swedish’s Preadmission Clinics for three campuses including First Hill, Cherry Hill and the Swedish Orthopedic Institute. 

Dr. William Bensinger
Oncology Physician - Multiple Myeloma

The Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) continues to expand its hematology proficiency and treatment capabilities through the addition of international multiple myeloma expert Dr. William Bensinger. Dr. Bensinger joins SCI’s Center for Blood Disorders and Stem Cell Transplantation team. Dr. Bensinger is known worldwide for his expertise in blood disorders such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, using treatments including autologous stem cell transplantation, targeted radiotherapy and immunotherapy. At Swedish, Dr. Bensinger and his team will focus on advanced treatment options for multiple myeloma, including stem cell transplantation and revolutionary clinical drug trials. His team will also integrate SCI’s Personalized Medicine Program, identifying and developing personalized treatment options for patients based on their individual cancer’s genomic profile.

She graduated magna cum laude with a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. Nelson is a member of the Labor & Employment Law Association and represented low-income clients in hearings to recover their unemployment benefits for the Unemployment Law Project in 2013. She will focus on serving clients in all aspects of employment law.

Nunn earned her Law degree at the University Of Washington School Of Law in 2014, where she was President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. She worked in both employment and compliance/due diligence at Expeditors before spending the summer as a Law Clerk for Justice Farris in the Snohomish County Superior Court. Nunn is a member of the Asian Bar Association of Washington and has volunteered as an attorney for the Northwest Justice Project’s Foreclosure Prevention Unit earlier this year. She will provide immigration related advice and services.
