Plane Crash Kills Stevens

Former Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska dead in plane crash; EADS North America CEO also on board.

It's all over the news right now. In short, former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) died in a plane crash last night.

What's not getting as much play (obviously, in light of the tragic news) is that another person on the small plane was Sean O'Keefe, CEO of EADS North America. EADS is the parent company of Airbus Industrie, the giant European aerospace company that competes with Boeing, although the North American unit is more of a defense contractor.

There were apparently survivors from the crash. It is unknown if O'Keefe was among them.

UPDATE 3:41 p.m.: Talking Points Memo confirms that O'Keefe survived the crash. Link here.
