2016 HIMSS NW Healthcare Technology Conference & Hackathon

The rapid growth and advancement of relentless hackers has placed thousands of healthcare organizations at great risk of breach or data loss. CIO’s are faced with the harsh reality that existing security measures are simply not sufficient to protect patient data and that constant vigilance and iteration is necessary in this daily war. Several reputable health organizations have fallen victim to a security breach where patient PHI is exposed due to vulnerabilities. In 2015, over 100 million individuals’ data was lost or stolen due to hacking or IT incidents in the US alone. PHI includes sensitive information such as medical records, date of birth and social security info which is extremely valuable on the black market.

In conjunction with the HIMSS WA Chapter, Avail Partners, and TechGuard Security; ClearDATA’s Chief Privacy and Security Officer, Chris Bowen will take an unbiased look at the root causes behind some of the most prolific health data breaches to date. Chris will also share proven tips and advice for how to safeguard health data. Additionally, TechGuard Security will walk through the results of a Penetration Test that they are performing on a pre-selected Healthcare Organization from Washington State. To cap things off, local celebrity Chris Cashman will be our host and Emcee for the evening’s events. You won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind educational, networking event!
