PEMCO Mutual Insurance recently announced that Sharlyn Petit will join its marketing and communication team as an internal communications manager. She brings extensive experience in driving employee engagement through internal communications strategy, corporate initiatives and programs that strengthen employees’ connection to company brand, mission, and values.

Petit has held several roles at PEMCO since joining the organization in 2009. Most recently she served as a communications and impact manager, helping to execute communication strategies and project goals for PEMCO’s Mutual Good and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“In the past decade, we’ve seen Sharlyn cultivate her skills as a relationship-focused, community-minded leader and we are excited to welcome her to this role,” said John Burgess, corporate communications manager at PEMCO. “Her unwavering resolve and ability to thoughtfully advocate for her colleagues is outstanding, and she will continue to empower us to enhance our employee – and by association, customer – experience.”

Petit’s insight into PEMCO’s culture, programs and employer branding will enable her to continue amplifying the company’s commitment to fostering an inspiring, ethical and transparent workplace. Prior to her communications-focused roles, she also spent time on PEMCO’s human resources team.

Outside of PEMCO, Petit currently serves on the steering committee for Puget Sound’s Workplace Community Engagement Network and is an active member of the International Association of Business Communicators, a global network of communication professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness. She has also contributed as a freelance writer and editor for Seattle-based publications, such as ParentMap, covering regional lifestyle and local business topics.

Petit holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in writing and anthropology from Pacific Lutheran University. She also completed the University of Washington’s certificate in editing program with a focus on digital content strategy.
