Safe Boats International, an aluminum boatbuilder based in Bremerton, supplies vessels to law-enforcement agencies, the military, and fire and rescue agencies around the world. The company has two locations in Bremerton, including its main office and a customer-service and training facility, as well as a large-craft production facility in Tacoma, which is being used as storage until the company receives more requests to build boats more than 65 feet in length. The company, which employs 270 people, was founded by Bill Hansen and Scott Peterson and is still owned by the duo, along with a group of other investors.
