Alaska Airlines Embarks On Hiring Spree

The SeaTac-based airline plans to hire thousands of workers this year.

Alaska Air Group, which operates Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, plans to hire 3,000 workers this year.

The company, which is headquartered in the city of SeaTac, said it would hire for a range of roles, including pilots, flight attendants and maintenance technicians. Seventy-five percent of the new jobs will be in Washington state.

The company also released an economic impact study saying it contributes $7 billion annually to the state economy.

Together, were building long-term, sustainable growth across Washington, said Andy Schneider, the airlines vice president of people.

Alaska already employs 10,000 workers across the state. Alaska is the dominant carrier at Sea-Tac Airport, with almost 42 percent market share.
