Plastic injection molding is a crowded space to play in for a small (48 employees), young (founded in 2003) company. But under Tom Flecks leadership, GlobalTech Plastics has posted a continuing record of revenue growth (69 percent, 54 percent and 48 percent in the past three years), employee growth (up from just 18 in 2010) and facilities expansion to accommodate that growth.

The companys strategy is to be a one-stop shop for manufacturability design, materials selection and multiple production technologies, including ultrasonic welding and clean-room assembly. Were really strong on the engineering and technical side, says Fleck. Were able to support the customer in the up-front part of the product. Our involvement gives us an edge in getting the program.

GlobalTech also plays bigger than its size in community involvement backing a First Robotics team and hiring students from the program as summer interns, working with placing military veterans in manufacturing jobs and teaming with Seattle Childrens Hospital on the design of an infant respiratory device (even though GlobalTech, not being certified as a medical-device manufacturer, wouldnt have the opportunity to make it).
