Healthiest State Legislative Conference
The Healthiest State Legislative Conference is a direct continuation of the former non-partisan legislative and policy event sponsored for 23 years by the University of Washington. In 2009, after being specifically asked by the UW organizers to preserve the event’s tradition, the Washington Health Foundation successfully hosted the annual conference through its Healthiest State in the Nation campaign and sustained the spirit of collaboration, cooperation, and direct dialogue that had been a hallmark of the Legislative Conference. By contributing its unique position as one of the only statewide non-partisan, non-profit entities dedicated to improving the health of Washington’s people, WHF brought a renewed focus and passion to the event that was evident to all in attendance.
Our plans for 2010 build on last year’s conversations by looking at the practical policy implications and opportunities offered by the landmark Health Reform Bill and its implementation as well as the policy impact of the important electoral results that will have been decided a few days prior to the November 4th Conference.
