Judge dismisses Novell's claim against Microsoft

$1 billion lawsuit dates to 2004 and demise of WordPerfect

The Associated Press reports that a federal judge has dismissed Novell's $1 billion lawsuit against Microsoft because the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case.

Novell sued Microsoft in 2004, claiming it was duped into developing the WordPerfect writing program for Windows 95 only to have Microsoft give preference to its own suite of Office software, including Word.
