The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced Monday that Christopher Elias, M.D., will lead its Global Development Program. The foundation also announced that the program will be expanded and that Elias will manage a portfolio that includes Family Health, Vaccine Delivery and U.S. and Global Libraries in addition to the existing components of Global Development.

At Seattles PATH, Elias expanded the global health nonprofits visibility over the past decade. The organization currently has projects in more than 70 countries.

We are very pleased that Chris is joining the foundation to lead our global development work, said Bill Gates in a press release announcing Elias appointment. His leadership at PATH and long history in health and development will enhance our ability to deliver innovative solutions to some of the worlds biggest challenges.
