Leaders in Health Care 2011 Award Categories

Lifetime
Achievement Award: Awarded
to an individual for his or her lifetime
contribution to the improvement and advancement of health care in
Washington.

Outstanding Health Care Executive: Awarded to the
administrator (or team) at a hospital or healthcare provider in
Washington state who has made exceptional contributions that raised the
quality of health care while reducing costs. Considerations should
include, but not be limited to: leadership, innovative and creative
management; development of the organization; promoting the institution
and its growth and stature in the community; development of others in
the health care profession; community activities.

Outstanding
Health Care Professional:
Awarded to a individual who has demonstrated
exceptional contributions to health care. This category is intended for
health care practitioners, not administrators (see above).
Considerations should include but not be limited to: demonstrated
professionalism in delivering patient care; responsiveness to physical,
emotional and intellectual needs of patients and families;
implementation of practices that have improved patient outcomes;
contributions to a providers mission of delivering high quality patient
care; volunteer activities.

Outstanding Achievement and
Innovation in Biopharmaceuticals:
Awarded to a company or an individual in
the Washington life sciences community for outstanding achievement in
research and innovation in the fields of biotechnology or biomedicine. Judges will consider the significance of the
discovery and its translation into useful therapeutics or medical
devices. Companies, research institutions and individuals are eligible
for this award.

Outstanding Achievement and Innovation in Medical Devices: Awarded
to a company whose products are contributing to better patient
outcomes, whether in prevention, diagnosis, treatment or recovery.
Judges will consider the significance of the technology, its
effectiveness and safety, and its market potential.

Outstanding Achievement in Health Care Information Technology: Awarded to a company or institution that has developed or implemented an IT solution that leads to better quality of care and operating efficiency.

Employer Achievement in Developing Wellness Programs: Honors the
company that provides the most effective and innovative wellness
programs to its employees.

Outstanding Achievement in Community
Outreach:
Awarded to an individual or organization for development of a
program that provides access to or improves the quality of health care
in under-served areas or rural areas or to under-served populations.
Judges will consider uniqueness, cost-effectiveness and its impact on
the community.

Outstanding Global Health Organization: Awarded to an organization that has made a major impact toward solving chronic global health problems and/or contributing to the development of global health research and influence in Washington.
